Coordinates the activities of the plant in the areas of accounting costs and budgets through the review of operations and the criteria used for developing cost standards and expense budgets to establish an acceptable base for measuring product cost, expense control and plant performance.
·         Responsible for the setting up and supervision of the reporting system (i.e. receiving, shipping, finished good inventories, labor distribution and material usage, etc.)  so that an accurate profit and loss statement can be submitted for each month's business by the established deadlines.  Attaches documentation explaining unusual variances.
·         Revises performance records, anticipates sales and cost to develop quarterly business forecasts and the annual profit plan for planning purposes.
·         Insures proper account distribution for items expensed, inventories, fixed assets, etc.
·         Facilitates the monthly closing by reviewing accounting data and computer runs for accuracy in order that the closing can be performed on a timely basis.
·         Coordinates the taking of year-end physical inventory to assure accurate ending inventory balance.  Schedules and coordinates additional inventories as deemed necessary.
·         Prepares appropriation requests and the justification of same for capital expenditures to insure that the funds are being requested in accordance with Corporate guidelines.
·         Responsible for conducting monthly financial reviews with plant staff to track performance during the month.
·         Responsible for insuring that all-governmental reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
·         Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of all balance sheet accounts by insuring that account reconciliations are completed monthly/quarterly as scheduled.
·         Coordinates all activities, as directed by Division Controller, relating to year-end audit requirements regarding timing and completion as they pertain to the plant.
·         Coordinates and resolves accounting department problems and disputes regarding systems, procedures or cost centers.  Delegates accounting functions to members of the accounting department and follows up to insure the attainment of assigned goals.
·         Recommends or approves all promotions, demotions and transfers within the Accounting department.  Trains and develops the office staff to accept greater accounting responsibilities.
·         Maintains community and professional associations outside the Company as necessary to accomplish the accounting function.
·         Responsible for working in a smooth and productive manner to maintain good union relationships in plant.
·         From time-to-time will review all plant procedures to determine cost savings effectiveness and over all effectiveness of meeting plant goals.
·         Performs related duties and may be assigned by the Plant Manager, Division Controller and/or Division Accounting.
·         Responsible for adhering to and promoting all HS E & E policies and procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises employees in the Accounting Department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsible for adhering to and promoting all HS & E policies and procedures.

Education and/or Experience:
Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent in accounting field.  Six to eight years accounting and financial experience with emphasis in cost accounting and budgets.  CPA desirable.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fraction, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret and deal effectively with an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Computer skills with full understanding of software programs, including Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Powerpoint, MFG PRO, Hyperion, ESSBASE, and Lotus Notes).
